Friday Favorites

And just like that, it's June. Can you believe it? It is so true that the older you get, the faster time goes. I feel like it was just January! I'm not complaining because this is my favorite time of year, but here's to hoping the summer goes by a lot slower so I can enjoy every last drop of it! Anyways, I thought I'd check in today to share some of the random things I'm enjoying these days....

1.) Outdoor Yoga

One of my favorite ways to enjoy the summer weather is to exercise outdoors and that includes taking my yoga practice outside. For self-led practices I just take my mat or towel to the grass, turn on one of my podcasts, and get to flowing. Outdoor yoga is becoming a really popular thing, so if you're not into self-led practices just yet, chances are there are outdoor classes happening at a park or rooftop near you. If you are local, I recommend Yoga in the Park with Anne Parmer. This class takes place every Sunday at 8am through Labor Day at Shank Park in Hershey and is donation-based, so bring cash and pay what you can. You can get more info here. By the way, I'll be subbing for Anne on Sunday, August 7th.

2.) My Newfound Freedom

I couldn't write a What I'm Loving post and NOT include how much I'm LOVING not going to my 9-5 job. It is so nice to have the freedom to create my own schedule. I've worked full time over the summers since I was 16, so I'm being mindful about not taking too much on these next couple of months and actually enjoying my favorite time of year. I'm going to have my niece one day a week once school lets out and we plan to do some major adventuring together. I'm really looking forward to more one-on-one time together and am so grateful for the opportunity to do so - it is such a blessing. Of course there is still work to be done, and I will continue to be productive, but the difference is I get to say when and from's so liberating!

3.) 50-Hour Teacher Training @ STUDIO B

Tonight is the first night of the next 50-hour teacher training at STUDIO B. Leading teacher trainings is one of my favorite aspects of my job. I enjoy planning the curriculum, sharing the information, and and both witnessing and experiencing the learning and transformation that happens along the way. Teacher Training is not just for people who are interested in becoming teachers, but anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge about yoga. We cover yoga, meditation and personal development (<---- My favorite part!). The 50 hour option is nice for folks who are interested in learning more, but not quite ready to take the 200-hour plunge. I have a great group of students signed up for the training that starts tonight and I am so excited to see where it leads them (and me!). If you are interested in learning about upcoming 50 and 200 hour teacher trainings, shoot me a message.

4.) Great Strength Workouts

I'm happy to report that for the first time in a long time, squatting and deadlifting felt effortless and pain-free this week.  I had really been missing this piece of my workout puzzle, so I hope it's back for good.

5.) Dr. Teals Epsom Salt Baths

The return of heavy strength training means the return of sore muscles and soaking in epsom salt baths to recover. Dr. Teal's is my absolute favorite. Even if you don't strength train, I recommend checking this stuff out. I especially like the Eucalyptus Spearmint. I'm not sure how much it helps with muscle recovery, but it's so relaxing and smells amazing.

6.) Vitafusion Gorgeous Hair, Skin and Nails

Oh my goodness!! This stuff is no joke. I bought a bottle about two months ago as sort of an impulse buy and quite honestly only stuck to taking them regularly because they're gummies and taste like candy - LOL! Half way through the first bottle I started noticing a HUGE difference in my hair. It was growing like crazy and thicker and healthier than ever. I just recently took off acrylic nails, so jury is still out on whether or not it's helping in that department, and my skin is a lost cause, but it's definitely helping my hair and I definitely recommend.

7.) Donovan Livingston's Student Speech

I'll leave you with this. Donovan Livingston's Student Speech from Harvard's Graduate School of Education graduation ceremony. As they put it, it's one of the most powerful, heartfelt student speeches you'll ever hear.

I hope you have a great weekend!!! Stay safe, and if it's nice where you are, take your yoga mat outdoors and enjoy Mother Nature : )
